Examination Section is the nerve of the University. This section is headed by the Controller of Examinations and works under the direction and control of the Vice-Chancellor . It conducts the examinations for all courses of the University, arranges for the valuation of the answer scripts, processes marks, announces results and issues diplomas, degrees and certificates at the time of convocation and otherwise too (Procedure to issue degree certificates) and to impose penalty to the defaulters through Lapses Committee mechanism. Examination section of the University is mainly divided into three sections I.e. Pre-Examination, On-Examination and Post-Examination section.
PRE-EXAMINATION:- The dates of the filling up the examination form, dates of commencement of the examinations of the University courses are announced by the Pre-Examination Section in the month of May for the Oct/Nov. examinations and in the month of November for March/April examinations. The setting of question papers, appointment of examiners and moderators, printing of question papers and other work of confidential nature are carried out by the Pre-Examination Section. Announcement of the examination centers, seating arrangement of the students for the examination are also carried out by this section.
ON-EXAMINATION:- On-examination section accepts the examination forms as per the Procedure to accept the Examination forms. The forms of the students from colleges and sections for all the examinations are accepted by this section. The forms are checked and processed by this section and name lists and hall tickets of the examinees are prepared and circulated to all concerned colleges by this section. The declaration of results after receipt of examiners and moderators marks is major function of this section. The queries related to the student’s records are dealt with by this section. The dates for the submission of verification of the marks and for issue of the Xerox/photo copies of the examinee’s answer books are announced by this section along with results of the respective examination.
POST-EXAMINATION:- The valuation of answer books of all courses is carried out at Centralized Assessment Program (CAP) Centers and results of maximum number of courses are declared within the time limit prescribed by the Maharashtra Universities Act 1994. To provide a better and efficient service to students, the examination related work is computerized. A dedicated Computer Center with a server and 30 terminals has been set up. Post-examination section fixes the CAP centers and arranges for assessment of the answer books. The examination system should be reliable, fair and adquately transparent. Keeping this in mind, several steps are taken by the University to communicate error free marks to the students. The verification before entry of marks on computer has reduced the cases of variation of marks to a considerable extent. This section also deals with the verification and revaluation of the answer scripts. The statement of marks are issued by this section after declaration of results. The Change in Name of the students presently admitted, issue of Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate to the students seeking admission in the other than this University are issued by this section. This section also provides duplicate statement of marks. The Convocation is major event in the University functioning.
The fees paid for any purpose to the examination are not refundable. In only exceptional cases
refund of fees is done as per the ordinances and rules made for the same.
The University is also having external section for non collegiate students. University admits the students for BA, B.Com., M.A.(except geography and psychology) M.Com. and M.Sc. Mathematics courses. University is having nearly 30,000 non collegiate students popularly known as external students.
