(Admission to Diploma(Engg) Courses in the State of Punjab)
Introduction
The Punjab State Board of Technical Education (PSBTE) is an autonomous statutory authority created under the Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training Act 1992, for regulating and controlling academic standards in Institutes of Technical Education and for making admissions & conducting examinations in Polytechnics and Industrial Training Institutes. The board conducts Joint Entrance Test (JET) for admissions to various engineering diploma courses being run in the Government, Govt. Aided/ Self-financing institutions affiliated to the board. For other courses such as Pharmacy and Lateral entry to diploma courses, the marks based merit list is considered. Web based Online off-campus counseling for admissions to all diploma courses being run in all type of institutions in the State, is being conducted for the current academic session 2010-11.
Purpose
This document outlines the operational counseling procedure for the candidates i.e. how to register on the website, how to fill the choices and change the order of choices, generation of provisional allotment letter after allotment etc.

GUIDELINES FOR FILLING THE CHOICES BY THE CANDIDATES
1. Candidates are advised to fill as many choices as desired from the available list of choices.
2. Choices can be filled after the confirmation of Registration Details only.
3. There are two boxes available at the “Fill Choices” option:-
Left box indicates the total available choices as per the candidate’s Eligibility
Right box indicates the choices filled by the Candidate.
4. Available choices can be sorted course wise & Institution wise any time during the choice filling.
5. System has facility to add Single Choice or Multiple Choices at a time.
6. Single choice can be filled by first selecting choice from Left Box and then pressing the button available in the Left box. The choice will be added to Right Box after pressing the button.
7. Multiple Choice can be filled by selecting all the desired choices from the available choices in Left box and then pressing button available at the bottom of Left box. All the selected choices will be added to Right box after the pressing the .
8. Candidate has to provide the choice number as per his/her priority in any order and in any way once the choices are added to the Right box.
9. System has facility to SWAP two choices from the already selected choices.
10. Candidate can SWAP the choices by filling the choice number in the text box available near the label Exchange two Choices and then press SWAP Choices Button.
11. Candidate can also reset the already given choice number by clicking on . All the choice number will then be initialized with value 0 and candidate shall again fill the choice number as per his/her priority.
12. After completing the choice filling, it is very important to save the choices. If not saved all the filled choices will be deleted.
13. Candidate can adopt any of following approach for saving the choices:
a) Press button. The choices filled by the candidate will be saved and candidate is allowed to add more choices.
b) Press button. The choices filled by the candidate will be saved and system will exit from the choice filling option.
