About Ambedkar University:
The Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Delhi, (Ambedkar University, Delhi or AUD for short) was established through an Act of the Delhi Legislature in 2007 and was notified in July 2008. The University began functioning in August 2008.AUD is mandated to focus on teaching and research in the social sciences and the humanities and is guided by Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of promoting equality and social justice as well as quality and excellence. AUD is a unitary university with both postgraduate and undergraduate programmes on campus. It can develop into a multi-campus system spread over the National Capital Territory.
The University is at present located in an interim campus in the Integrated Institute of Technology Campus, Sector 9, Dwarka, New Delhi. The University hopes to move into its permanent campus(es) within about three years.
This two year M.A. programme in Development Studies will attempt to equip students with the ability to address the challenges of development and public policy as they affect developing societies. It includes eleven taught courses: eight core courses and three elective courses of 4 credits each. The programme also includes research course work, research practicum, workshops, seminars and field-based activities.A strong component on research methodology will be supplemented with participatory rural appraisal methods, an understanding of log frames, as well as the basics of organization and project management. Dedicated workshops on policy analysis from experts in the field will supplement the classroom and practical learning. The programme will focus on analytical skills, oral and written communication, as well as provide tools based on research methodology for social sciences and wider development practice. The curriculum combines innovative classroom learning with seminars, group work, projects, and a compulsory internship leading to a dissertation. More than 30 percent of the learning is structured outside the formal classroom process.
A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognised university. Relaxation of 5% in eligibility criterion will be given to candidates belonging to any one or more of the following categories: SC, ST Postgraduates from a recognized university with 50% (or equivalent grades) Those with work experience of at least one year in a relevant work situation 35 Students will be admitted to each of the above M.A. programmes in 2009-2010.

Application forms can also be downloaded from the website of the University. There will be no provision for online submission. Filled-in application forms will have to be submitted along with a bank draft of Rs 300/- for each M.A. programme. For SC/ST candidates the application forms will have to be submitted along with a bank draft of Rs.100 for each M.A. programme. The bank draft should be made in favour of ‘Ambedkar University, Delhi’. The bank draft should be made from a nationalised bank only. Please write your name and contact telephone number on the back of the bank draft. The filled-in application can be submitted by hand at the University Office or at select branches of Canara Bank in Delhi.
