WBCSC (West Bengal College Service Commission) or WBCSC Results 2009 or WBCSC Interview Programme for Lectureship has came into existance as The Government of West Bengal has nominated the West Bengal College Service Commission as the “State Agency“ for holding the State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship in Universities and Colleges of the state.
The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) came into existence on 2nd November 1979 in terms of Act LXII of 1978.
The two main functions of the Commission are:
1. To prepare merit panels of candidates eligible for recruitment to the posts of Lecturer in different subjects/disciplines of Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Physical Education, Foreign Languages, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Fine Arts and Music in the Degree Colleges affiliated to Calcutta University, Burdwan University, North Bengal University, Kalyani University and Vidyasagar University.
2. To recommend candidates for appointment to fill in the vacant posts of Lecturer in different subjects as requisitioned by the affiliated colleges against sanctioned posts. The Commission also recommends suitable persons for appointment to the posts of principal for affiliated Degree colleges against vacancies reported from time to time; the recruitment qualifications, age etc. are decided by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal.
