Announcement regarding Common Counselling for M.Tech. Admission 2009-10
It is proposed to conduct Phase – I of common counselling for M.Tech. admissions from 22-June 2009 to 24-June 2009 in all the three NITs simultaneously as per schedule given below.
22-6-2009- (i) All Physically challanged candidates. (ii) All applicants having GATE score 500 and above.
23-6-2009 – All applicants in the GATE score range 499- 400
24-6-2009- All applicants in the GATE score range 399-300
Phase-II of counselling will be conducted on 13-07-2009 calling for the remaining eligible applicants.
Candiates may choose for counseling any one of the above three NITs. The eligible candidates should report on the above date of counseling with the following documents in original:
· GATE Score Card
· Community certificate(For OBC/SC/ST categories) issued by a competent authority. For OBC category the cetificate should indicate the status regarding Creamy Layer based on the financial year ending March 31st 2009
· For candidates already having the eligible degree, evidence for passing the degree with First Class.(For eligibility requirements for each NIT, please refer respective NIT website.)
· Mark lists of 1st – 6th Semesters
· Course completion certificate
· For Physically Challanged candidates – the original disability cerificate.
The Reporting time is 9:00 a.m. on each day of counseling . Counselling will start simultaneously at all the three centers at 10:00 a.m.
For Counseling each candidate should bring a DD (infavour of “Chairman, CC-MT, NITs” payable at Tiruchirappalli) for Rs.10,200/-.
The counseling process consists of the following three stages.
i. Verification: HOD/Department Committee for each branch will carry out verification of certificates and if application details tally, DD will be collected and counseling slip will be issued. The issued slip will have a Registration Key and PIN with which the applicant can log into coulselling terminals.
ii. In case of difference between application data and original certificate the Department Committee will enter the correct data and then the candidates will be issued the counseling slip.
iii. For counseling, a maximum of 15 minutes will be given to each applicant. If no decision is taken within the allotted time he/she should give a written request seeking additional 5 minutes. Not more than 20 minutes will be given for each applicant.
After choosing the courses/institutes the student should sign on the printed priority list and handover the same to the persons concerned and then leave the counseling center. A copy of this list given to the candidate is to be produced the next day to collect the allotment letter.
For each day the allotment of seats will be finalized after ensuring the last candidate having cut-off GATE score for the given day is counselled at all the three NITs.
The allotment of seats is made for each specialisation based on the GATE score only. In the event of equal gate score the TIE will be resolved by the following method:
Based on the percentage of marks (1-6 semesters only) and if there is a tie again, then the age of
the candidate (date of birth) will be the deciding factor.
If a candidate having a higher GATE score reports for counselling on the next day, he/she will be counseled only for the available seats on the date of reporting.
The allotment of seats will be made only at the end of each day of counseling. The candidates can collect the allotment letter from the admissions coordinator on the next day itself. With this letter candidates are rquired to report at the chosen NIT on the date of admission (Refer : respctive NIT website).
If cancellation is sought on or before taking admission at the chosen NIT, the candidate can do so by paying a DD for Rs.1,200/- The cancellation needs to be done at the centre where the candidate appeared for counselling.
In the event of any dispute the decision of the admissions committee is final.
