AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE / NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST EXAMINATION-2011.
Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) will hold a competitive ARS/NET Examination – 2011 as per the following scheme where two separate examinations will be held as ( I) Prelim – ARS / NET Examination – 2011 and (II) ARS – Main Examination – 2011. Both the aforesaid examinations will be conducted on 12.02.2012.
1. The Prelim – ARS examination is a qualifying examination. However, all those candidates desirous of appearing for ARS will have to take both the Prelim Examination as well as the ARS Main Examination. The Main Examination will be held on the same day in the afternoon. Since a pass in the Prelim Examination is compulsory for all ARS candidates, only those candidates who pass the Prelim Examination will have opportunity to get their Main Examination papers evaluated. Only those candidates who appeared in the Prelim ARS Examination will be allowed to appear in the ARS Main Examination.
The candidates clearing Main Examination will be called for Viva-Voce in the ratio of 1:5 subject to obtaining a minimum 50% marks by General / OBC candidates and 45% marks by SC/ST/PC candidates in ARS Main Examination (Subjective type). The selection of candidates for Viva-Voce will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the ARS – Main examination. Candidates declared successful in ARS – Main Examination and viva-voce will be recommended for appointment as Scientists in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the pay scale of Rs.15,600 – 39,100 plus Research Grade Pay (RGP) of Rs.6,000/-.
2. NET is a qualifying examination for determining eligibility for Lecturer / Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs). Candidates clearing the National Eligibility Test will be eligible for Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. NET Certificates will be issued to the candidates by the A.S.R.B. after the screening of the eligibility of the provisionally qualified candidates to enable them to apply against vacancies to be notified or advertised by the State Agricultural Universities. SAUs/AUs will consider their eligibility through interview or any such other tests as devised for recruitment of Lecturers or Assistant Professors.
(a) For Agricultural Research Service:-
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years but not have attained the age of 32 years as on 01.08.2011 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd August, 1979 and not later than 1st August, 1990. Age relaxation is admissible to the various categories as per rules. For details please refer to rule 2 of the Rules of examinations.
(b) For National Eligibility Test:-
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years as on 01.08.2011. There is no upper age limit for the National Eligibility Test.

The candidates seeking admission to ARS/NET Examination must pay to the Board a fee of Rs. 1,000/- (Rs. One thousand only) through a Crossed Bank Draft only, valid for six months from the date of issue, drawn in favour of Secretary, A.S.R.B. and payable at New Delhi with the application form. Candidates should write their name and address on the reverse of the Bank Draft in the top corner at the time of submission of application. No other form of payment will be accepted by the Board.
ALL WOMEN CANDIDATES AND THE CANDIDATES BELONGING TO SCHEDULED CASTE/SCHEDULE TRIBE/PHYSICALLY DISABLED CATEGORIES ARE EXEMPTED FROM PAYMENT OF ANY FEE. NO FEE EXEMPTION IS HOWEVER, AVAILABLE TO OBC CANDIDATES AND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE PRESCRIBED FEE IN FULL
CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY
Nationality: A candidate must be either:-
(a) a citizen of India, or
(ii) a citizen of Nepal, or
(b) a citizen of Bhutan, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar) Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (IV) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR ARS AND NET:-
A candidate for the Prelim – Agricultural Research Service/National Eligibility Test must have a Master’s degree or equivalent in the concerned subject with specialization as defined in below and for ARS – Main examination, a candidate must have a Master’s degree or equivalent in concerned subject as defined in below against each discipline, from any Indian University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or he/she must have qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent by the Government of India. The candidates having Master’s degree from a foreign University must attach a certificate of equivalence and recognition of that degree issued by the University Grants Commission/Govt. of India.
NOTE-I:- Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them eligible/qualified for this examination, but have not been informed of the result and also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination, will not be eligible for admission to this examination.
NOTE-II:- For the purpose of the above eligibility, the candidate must submit proof that he/she has, or will appear, for the qualifying examination, in all papers, by 1st August, 2011. If selected, the candidate would have to provide proof of his/her having qualified the examination, before his/her appointment letter issued.
NOTE-III:- In ARS the scientist will be placed in the same discipline in which he/ she has qualified the ARS examination and no request for change of discipline will be entertained.
NOTE IV:- The candidates selected for appointment to the posts in Veterinary Sciencesdisciplines will be entitled to Non Practicing Allowance as admissible under the rules of Indian Council of Agricultural Research and subject to fulfillment of the conditions of entitlement as prescribed by the Council
